1992-1996

Vovinam's 1st National Championships

For the first time of its history, in 1992, Vovinam was having a National Championship. Two people were at the head of it. Firstly Master Tran Huy Phong, real front line of Vovinam in Vietnam; and Master Nguyen Van Chieu, who had the power due to his Communist Party Membership role and influence.

Vovinam starts to become a sport
Vovinam, for the first time, is officially becoming a sport in 1992, with rules and regulations established as any other sport discipline. Vovinam began to lose his effective side to enter in the soft and sportly side.
